Choosing an Insurance
Mitigation Inspector
•
Choosing a mitigation inspector will have effects
well into the future. His assessment can save you money, or
could prove to be very costly.
•
An inaccurate or improperly prepared report, may
result in missed discounts, or challenges from your insurance
carrier, after storm damage has occurred.
•
With the discounts now available to the public,
some are doing insurance mitigation inspections without any
special training or lacking the background or education
necessary to accurately asses the structure, or prepare the
required documents.
•
Insurance companies require inspectors to be
licensed contractors, architects, engineers, or licensed
building inspectors. This does not necessarily assure that they
are trained and knowledgeable in filling out the many different
and diverse forms required by insurance companies, nor that they
are familiar with the specific rates and procedures manuals.
